FWD cabin and instrumentpanel
Vans's aircraft allows the builder to decide, how the fwd cabin and the
instrumentpanelsurroundings is going to look like.
We have had many discussions about the layout in our attempt to make this RV10 something very special
we have come up with the following solutions
The first thing we did, was to close the airintakes in the walls of the fuselage.
We are going to integrate them in the cowling instead. The air outlets in the cabin
are eyeballvalves.
The outtakes in the rear are put in the centerconsole wich we have built
with an armrest.
3/1-2006

The centerconsole is still undergoing development but the final look is more or
less like in the picture.
The top of the console is a lid, we are putting the fireextinguisher in the hollow
console. We are installing vents for the rearseats in the back of the console.
We have built the layout around the instrument panel in foam, clay and aluminum.
You can see most of in on the picture below.
Our fuelselector is placed just infront of the centerconsole. Our fuelvalve is from
andair. Because our engine is fuelinjected we had to change from the standard to this duplexvalve.
We have put a curving aluminiumpanel just in front of the valve. We want our radio / transponder
installed in the panel.
To make everything look integrated and streamlined, we did a panel that covers the area from
from the fuelselector to the door.
You can see two triangle shaped curves in the corners of the instrumentpanel, the
airintakes for the frontseats is installed here. On this picture we have covered
them with tape to avoid getting epoxy on them.
We have put a 3/4 inch thick edge all the way across the glareshield. Usually
its just aluminiumsheet. We have taped it up to be able to remove the cast.
We will make panels to cover the doorposts and the area around the windshield.
On the picture you can see a little of it built in clay.
3/1

10/1 We have made two panels in aluminium. The panel under the door is fitted
directly on top of the underlying structure.
The panel in front of it is attached using small aluminiumangles we.

The panels is held in place with "duallock". Duallock is a kind of velcro.
The big difference is that it is stronger and more user friendly than velcro.
The two parts dont stick together before you press them together

13/1 Panels are being fitted.

15/2 The panels is on and the ceiling has been filled out. The "duallock" in
the ceiling is for a panel that covers the ceiling.
The red wire is for a "maplight".

22/2 We have been working on the centerconsole for a while, and here it is.

1/3 The instrumentpanel surroundings is also done now.
