Doors

The RV10 has two doors, actually ther are three but one is the door for the baggagecompartment.
The passenger doors are "gullwingdors" i.e the open upward.

When the doors arrive, there are four composite shells, that has to be glued together two and two. And then fitted to the plane.

20/7 The innershell is mounted to the aircraft, we have added som vibrationdamping foam to the shell. fuselage

The two shells are glued together with epoxy. It is absolutely vital that they are pressed tightly to the airframe once they are glued. If not, they can get the wrong shape, if that happens you have a lot of extra work ahead of you.

The outer shell is glued on, and they are pressed onto the airframe.

When the epoxy has cured, it is time to fit the door, that is a lot of work if you want to make it look good.

The door has been fitted, and the hinges are on.

The open/close mechanism is two rods, one goind forward and one going rearward. We have made some changes.

The standard handles work mostly like ordenary domestic doorhandes. They are connected to a small "tandhjul" inside the door. This way one rod will go forward and ond rearward.

We wanted to integrate the outside handles into the doors, so we had to alter the design a little bit.

It ended up looking good after some grinding and gluing.

On the inside, it is mostly standard except that we have connected the outside handle to the inside via a steel rod.
