Cooling
10/12-2009
Mistral G300, our engine, is liquidcooled. Traditional aviationengnes are aircooled.
There are advantages and disadvantages og both setups.
One of the advantages are closer tolarances inside the engein, because of the smaller temperaturfluctuations.
Meaning that it's less prone to "chokcooling.
A disadvantage is increased weight and more complicated installation.
There are several more reasons to choose a liquidcooled engine instead of an aircooled. Many other websites
deals with this subject, so I'll move on to what this is all about. Our installation.
There are two coolers, one for oil and one for water/glycol coolant. They are fairly large, but a certain size is
required to cool down all these horses.
The biggest task in this, has been to fabricate our own cowl.
The large intake in the front, feeds the coolers and the airintake for the engine. Fresh air to the cabin
is also taken from there.

More pic's and info will follow, as the work slides forward.
